We’re smack dab in the middle of the holiday season, folks. I hope you’re all further along in your holiday shopping than I am, which is to say I hope you’ve started your holiday shopping. There’s no way you should let the old man from Pets into your house. He definitely would show up with a pig, or a ferret, or both. Then he’d act like it’s no big deal as he fed his critters from the table, and before leaving he’d probably try to make you adopt something or another.

Pasión y Fuego

The couple from Pasión y Fuego would be nice, for a while. Then a switch would be invisibly flipped, and they’d be at each other’s necks over some perceived slight. Nobody wants that bringing down their holidays.

Bah, Humbug!

This one’s obvious. Stay away from Scrooge, at all costs!

We often ask our players over on the High 5 Casino fan page to comment on different game vs. game matchups. Today I’ll be offering my thoughts on two fascinating showdowns; take the polls below and let us know what you think!

Ravishing Beauties vs. Daughters of the Regiment

Who would win in a fight between the Ravishing Beauties and the Daughters of the Regiment?

The Daughters of the Regiment may not look intimidating, but their beauty masks some serious fighting skills. They were willing to risk life and limb to fight in America’s Revolutionary War, so they would probably be down to battle the Ravishing Beauties, an all-star team of monsters that includes a vampiress, a mummy, a werewolf, and a frankenwoman. I think the Daughters of the Regiment would put up a good fight, but ultimately the Ravishing Beauties would take them down. A musket with a bayonet attached just isn’t enough firepower to defeat supernatural evil. The Daughters’ guns would probably malfunction at the wrong time, and even if they did manage to get a few shots off the 17 minutes it would take to reload would be ample time for the Ravishing Beauties to attack.

Figaro vs. Pasión y Fuego

Would you rather star in a theater production of Figaro or in a telenovela like Pasión y Fuego?

As someone who is physically incapable of keeping a straight face or memorizing more than 12 words at a time, I’m really not cut out for the stage or the small screen. However, if I had to pick I would definitely rather star in a telenovela like Pasión y Fuego. It would be really, really hard to be in a theater production; think about performing the same role six or seven times a week in public for months or even years. Television, on the other hand, has a less demanding production schedule. Plus, it would be far less embarrassing to be a terrible actor on TV than it would to be a terrible actor in front of a live audience night after night.

Is it sad that I took four years of Spanish in high school, and still had to use Google Translate to make sure the title for this post was correct? Probably. But regardless, nothing is going to get me down on Cinco de Mayo, not even the fact that it falls on a Monday, which means I may be in a bit of a margarita haze at work tomorrow. Slot Fundamentals: Enduring Bonuses

Slot Fundamentals is a column we’ll be running occasionally to help our players better understand how our games work. This edition deals with Enduring Bonuses, which are types of bonus rounds found in some of our games.

The allure of a high-paying bonus round is one of the biggest reasons slots are so much fun. Slot players never know if their next spin is going to be the one that leads to a bunch of free chances to hit a huge jackpot. High 5 Games is dedicated to creating the most innovative titles on the market, which is why the company created Enduring Bonuses, which are twists on the traditional bonus round. But how exactly do Enduring Bonuses work?

There are two types of Enduring Bonuses, and they can both be best understood by defining them in contrast to typical bonus rounds. In a typical bonus round, players are awarded a certain number of free spins, after which the round ends. By contrast, Enduring Bonuses end when some other condition is met. In the Enduring Bonus in Dream Beauty, bonus rounds don’t end until players have scored a certain number of wins. When players land a win with the main character, their win counter goes up, not down (i.e. from 2 to 3 instead of 2 to 1). In Pasión y Fuego’s Enduring Bonus, the free games last until either three or four wilds lock into place in the middle reels, depending on how the bonus round was triggered. Lucinda Lopez writes, “Mr. CEO: Lots of these games are at the real casino, and some are not. Do you think some of the other High 5 Casino games will eventually hit our local casinos, or are they only for use on Facebook? Like Pasión y Fuego!”

Hi Lucinda, thanks for reaching out. Moving forward, we absolutely plan to release as many of our social games as possible in land-based casinos. We’ve been premiering our most recent games on Facebook because it’s the fastest way to get our games to our loyal players. By debuting our slots on High 5 Casino or Shake the Sky Casino, we’re able to evaluate what our players like, and build large audiences for our titles before they hit land-based casinos. Social games like Stella Drive and the Orb of Chance and Ocean’s Glory have already launched in land-based casinos through Bally Technologies, and other games, like White Lion and Empress of Time, are set to debut in land-based casinos soon, also through Bally Technologies.
